A Procrastinator's Guide to Cyber Monday
So you put off prep for a liiiiittle too long. Here's what you can still do to catapult your small business into Q4 success.

It’s already November, and while everyone else is figuring out turkey plans, you’re realizing you still haven't prepped your small business for Cyber Monday (Black Friday's tech-y counterpart). Well hey, better late than never, right?

This Cyber Monday, consumers will flock to their favorite sites for discounts, deals, and new products. The Monday after Thanksgiving is the single most profitable ecommerce day of the year, making it a major contributor to Q4 profits.

In 2020, NBC News reported that consumers are prioritizing movements over getting the best deal. With this change of heart, small businesses saw a larger increase in sales than big box retailers, and Shopify had its best year to date. If consumer habits continue to lean toward small businesses, Cyber Monday 2022 will be your time to shine. To succeed this November 28th, you’ll need to contribute a little extra thought and prep time.

Here’s your last-minute checklist before the big day arrives.

set your goals

What are you trying to accomplish this holiday season? What role will Cyber Monday play in this? Maybe there’s a certain product you’d like to promote or a sales target you’d like to reach. Write these goals down and assess your progress throughout your campaign.

Test your website

Read every product description, click every link, and even try placing an order. Cyber Monday may increase your exposure to a new clientele, and you need to make sure you’re putting your best foot forward.

Make sure you test your site on both mobile and desktop. In 2020, 37% of sales during Cyber Monday were made through smartphones (NBC News, 2020)

be realistic about ship times

Keep your customers updated on Printed Mint’s production timeline. Realistic shipping expectations yield better reviews and happier customers.

ramp up your customer support

With high website traffic comes higher chances of tech issues. Of course, you’ll do everything you can to prevent these, but make sure you have a plan for how you’ll respond to inquiries.

Consider onboarding help for the holidays, drafting scripted email templates, or using a software like Hootsuite to catch mentions or posts about your business.

promote!

It’s not too late to promote your sales. Push your deals on as many platforms as possible to reach a wider audience. Use a combination of paid ads, organic posts, email marketing, and social media polls to keep audiences engaged with your business.

Let this Cyber Monday be your most profitable yet! The hard work you put in now will surely pay off come November 28th.
