3 Surprising Ways to Increase Mindfulness

When people hear the word “mindfulness” it often evokes images of someone sitting with lotus legged chanting “om” or perhaps monks partaking in a silent retreat. While those acts are can be excellent, we wanted to write today about three ways that the Printed Mint team are currently practicing the art of mindfulness.

Perhaps they’ll surprise you and encourage you to take more time out of your day for your thoughts, your breath and your heart.

1. Meditative Story

We’ve found that Meditative Story is a wonderful way to start off or slow down your day. It’s a completely free podcast that combines real people’s stories with thinking prompts, the occasional deep breath and enchanting music. A fun fact that hints at why the production quality is *chef’s kiss?* Meditative Story was created by the team who built TED.

2. Walking Meditations

Up until a few weeks ago, we have never heard of walking meditations, but now that we have, we are completely in love!  This particular one from Meditation Teacher, Mimi Bouchard, is motivating, inspiring and will fuel your lunch time walks through the neighborhood.

3. Journal

Journaling can be the perfect way to increase mindfulness for those that wake-up with their thoughts going what feels like a million miles a minute. Though we like to encourage our Printed Minters to really take the time they need for themselves each day, this method works even if you have 60-seconds to spare! Simply jot down 3-5 things you’re grateful for each morning (or whenever works for you) and you’re able to come back to a list of things that fill you up with joy when your proverbial tank is running on fumes.
