A Working Document Every Team Should Have
We’ve been around the block a time or two (it was our sixth birthday in January!) and we have spent time on things for our team that we probably could have gone without + we’ve also found practices that have been *chef’s kiss* for us. As always, we love to share with our Printed Minters things that may help improve their businesses, make their team’s more efficient and in turn, happier!
Today, we wanted to share one document that could be a good idea for your team (no matter what the size!) to put into practice.
A Communication Guide
A communication guide is a great document that employees really tend to appreciate. It details four key things:
- What the method of communication is (email, Slack, phone call, etc.)
- If a response is required (this is a major time saver for those “just a heads-up emails!)
- What the maximum response time should be for internal folks (ex: you message a team member a product question)
- What the maximum response time is for external people (ex: when a customer sends an email)
This particular document keeps everybody’s expectations on the same page with a true gift, especially as the team grows, and allows companies to update their expectations as the business evolves.
And a FYI? It doesn’t have to be fancy! A working Google Drive Sheet works wonderfully.
Tell us: Are your current expectations surrounding team communication clear? Would you ever implement a communication guide?
