Tips for Promoting Your Business at Local Events
Well, it’s August — how did that happen? When did the fireworks stop and the back-to-school shopping begin? — and before we know it it will be holiday season.
Otherwise known as: Event Season. During event season, many of you will show off your goods at local events, create beautiful booths to attract your peeps and maybe work a few extra Saturday’s you normally wouldn’t.
But how do you make event season worth it for your business + stand out among the crowd?
We have a few ideas up our sleeve…
1. Know Your Audience
Many events have a niche market and each one is different from the one before. Just last Spring I remember going to a Market for Mom’s event on Saturday and an Indie Craft Fair the next. While they both have their space (and were totally awesome!) it’s vital that the vendors knew who their audience was + brought along the products to support. Ex: Your custom beer glasses might fly off the table at an Indie Craft Fair, but maybe bring out the funny quotable mugs at the Market for Moms.
2. Host a Raffle or Special
One way to make sure people stop by your booth is to host a raffle or promo a special — who doesn’t like that? We’ve seen people give away free product, offer discounts if a consumer can prove they’re following on Insta or even have a complementary gift with purchase. No matter how small, it’s the thought that counts.
Tip: When you do this don’t forget to collect email addresses! You’ll want to update them on fun pop-ups and products down the line.
3. Shout It Out
Make sure you’re promoting your involvement before and during the event! This is the best way to get people to come by — if you show how much fun you’re having (and how great your goods are), they’ll want to join-in in no time. Make sure to InstaStory a few other booths nearby that you enjoy too! They’ll be more likely to return the favor and send customers your way.
